Marheen Zone lifts under 17 Cricket trophy

kATHUA, May 17: Marheen Zone lifted under 17 boys Cricket trophy during the inter zone tournament being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the directions of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua Subash Chander Bhardwaj and supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Hiranagar Yog Raj Sharma at Sports Stadium Hiranagar. Meanwhile, at Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School Hiranagar the competitions of badminton for under 14 and 17 year boys were held. In under 17 badminton, Aditya Sahani of zone Marheen defeated Nishant Singh of Hiranagar by 2-0 sets in singles. In doubles, Nishant and Prajuwal of Hiranagar trounced Arvinder Singh and Harpreet Singh of Marheen by 2-0 sets. In reverse singles, Prajuwal of Hiranagar outplayed Arvinder Singh of Marheen by 2-0 sets.
In under 14, Dishav Singh of Sallan outplayed Sumit Thapa of Hiranagar by 2-0 sets in singles and in doubles Dishav and Dimple Jasrotia of Sallan defestef Kapil and Sumit Thapa by 2-0 sets. In under 17 cricket, Zone Marheen defeated the host Hiranagar by 4 wickets. Earlier, Hiranagar made 68 runs in prescribed 12 overs while batting first. Chasing the target Marheen won the match at 11.3 hours by 4 wickets.
