Early Times Report JAMMU, May 17: 248 business establishments were detected violating different provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Act,1997 and other Consumer Protection Laws. A fine of Rs. 4.72 lacs. have been recovered from 230 defaulting traders. On the directions of V.S Sambyal Joint Controller Legal Metrology the LMD squads conducted checking of business establishments in the areas of Narwal, Jewel, Vijaypur, Udhampur ,Poonch and Rajouri. The departmental squads conducted 1,451 inspections of business establishments dealing with dry fruits, Vegetables, fruits, kiryana items, Khazoor packets, sweets and other eatables. The departmental teams have also corrected 10,221 Weights and Measures being used in commercial transactions. An amount of Rs. 10.71 Lacs, have been recovered as correction fee. Jt. Controller LMD appealed to the business community to display uptodate rate lists of different commodities fixed by the authorities as being sold by them in their trading premises prominently for the benefit of general masses.
