Jammu, May 22: Inter School District Level Competitions in the sports discipline of Hockey, Fencing, football, Swimming, Rugby and Thang-sa-do under the age group of 14 and 17yrs (Boys) got underway today here at Hakku Stadium, GGM Science College, Heritage school, Green Field and M.A Stadium Jammu respectively.
In all near about 896 boys are drawn across from 14 Zones of Jammu District are taking part in the competitions. The competitions are being organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad , KAS, Director General, Youth Services & Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu. While Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the organising Secretary of the tournament. Chanchal Kour DYSSO Jammu declared the competitions open in presence of the players and the Zonal Physical Education Officers of District Jammu.
While addressing the gathering she said that students should take part in sports for the development of self confidence and also for the development of mind & body. She further said winning and loosing is part of the game but the participation of students which matters the most.
Later on, she wished them all the best during the competitions. |
