SKUAST-J Organizes Agricultural Officers Workshop

JAMMU, May 24: Agricultural Officers Training and Visit Workshop was organized by SKUAST-J in the Office of the Chief Agriculture Officer Doda, wherein the resource persons and field functionaries of Agriculture and Horticulture departments of Doda and Kishtwar districts participated.
Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Senior Scientist and Head of Regional Horticultural Research Station Bhaderwah and Convener of the Workshop welcomed the participants and took the feedback from the officers of Agriculture and Horticulture departments of both the districts.
The message for package of practices was floated among the participants and the cultural practices to be adopted in the field crops were elaborated by Dr. Amit Charak, whereas the integrated farming system and organic crop production was discussed by Dr. Rohit Sharma.
Dr. Jamwal discussed management practices for walnut weevil and apple scab, while Dr. D.K. Chauhan suggested refinement of seed material of the local crops. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar stressed for judicious use of chemicals for maintaining good soil health.
Chief Horticulture Officer Doda, Madan Lal Tak and Chief Agriculture Officer Doda, Sunil Koul, attended the T&V workshop beside other field functionaries of their respective departments, wherein several farm problems were raised for which remedial measures were suggested by the scientists/ resource persons from SKUAST-Jammu.
Among others AEOs and HDOs of Doda and Kishtwar districts, who participated in the workshop were Susheel Rattan Sharma, SDAO Pranoo; S.K. Rathore, SDAO Thathri; M L Sharma, DAO Extension; S. Iqbal Singh, Apiculture Development Officer and Sudhir Singh Chib, Assistant Soil Chemist. Shami Kotwal extended vote of thanks.
