Dy CM takes stock of SICOP functioning

JAMMU, June 18: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, who also holds the charge of Industries and Commerce department, today paid a surprise visit at SICOP, Gangyal to take stock of its overall functioning.
During the visit, the Deputy CM took a round of the various branches of the department located at SICOP including Testing Centre and Ware House, besides interacting with senior officers of the department to enquire about their roles and responsibilities.
The Deputy CM stressed on maintaining cleanliness in and around the office premises and emphasized on the need for proper record management for efficient performance of SICOP.
Meanwhile, he also inaugurated the road from Marble Market to Channi Himmat via Railway crossing. Reiterating the commitment of the government for the overall development of the state, the Deputy CM exhorted upon the upgradation and expansion of basic facilities to provide all infrastructural facilities to the people and sought their co-operation in implementing the development programs at the ground level.
He said the government has laid full focus on development of infrastructure and providing better civic amenities to the people of the state. He also inspected the pending works under different schemes and asked the officers of concerned departments to gear up their men and machinery so that the works could be completed as soon as possible.
In the day, the Deputy CM also interacted with the residents of D/C Block, Gandhi Nagar and listened to their demands and grievances related to the provision of better amenities and cleanliness in parks, covered lanes and drains and stoppers for speeding vehicles.
The residents also requested for bringing a mother industry to the area to help fight employment problem and bringing ancillary industries, creating CTPs and ZLDs for treating hazardous industrial waste, removing rotaries from main chowks/crossings to solve traffic problem, installation of webcams and intelligent traffic lighting systems for peak and non-peak hours.
Deputy CM said that an Open Gym would be established in Park No.15 and assured that whatever has been brought into his notice would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included senior KAS Officer Amit Sharma, Retd. IGP Sunil Sharma, Neerja, CA Rishu Kawatra, Deepti and Ritika.
