Mehbooba's close aide eyeing for coveted post of Vice Chancellor JU to run the Kashmir Centric agenda
BJP's bastion, pro-separatists rules Cluster University Jammu
6/24/2018 11:35:52 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 24: In a major setback to the nationalist sentiment in Jammu province, academic activities are being silently handed over into the hands of "pro-separatist lobby and their sympathizers" with some forces misguiding New Delhi on the sensitive issue.
After "infiltration" into the Cluster University Jammu, the "pro-separatist lobby" is about to take over the iconic University of Jammu, when the province is seen as BJP bastion. Read on.
In brazen violation of established norms and practices, the Cluster University of Jammu has nominated two allegedly pro-separatist personalities in their university council.
Official sources said: "Kapil Kak who is known for his sympathy towards the pro-separatists and Prof Sidiq Wahid, who is hardcore sympathizer of the pro-separatists have been included in the council."
Observers are surprised that the Cluster University Jammu has not nominated any eminent educationists from Jammu province or other parts of the country but have included "pro-separatists voices in their highest decision-making body, that is the council."
After including Kapil Kak and Prof Sidiq in the council of Cluster University Jammu, there is more in the offing from separatist ideology for highest seat of learning in Jammu.
Sources said a professor who holds a key post in the Cluster University Jammu is trying hard and using all resources in New Delhi to get appointed as Vice Chancellor University of Jammu.
According to the sources, one male and a female professor have been shortlisted for the coveted post of Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu.
"Besides the two, three more professors have been shortlisted by the search committee constituted by the Governor NN Vohra to appoint New VC Jammu University", sources said.
"Jammu province which is already battling to get its due share , is been once again ditched by appointing pro-separatist professor who is a close aide of former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti who always worked against the interest of Jammu people," the sources said.
"It's now upto Jammu people that weather they need a Pro-Jammu Vice Chancellor for this premier institution or a Pro-Kashmiri Vice Chancellor. By including those who are in the council of Cluster University Jammu, it's quite clear that if appointed at Jammu University, then we will have Kashmir Centric policies here also," said a Professor of University of Jammu
Two Cluster Universities were established as a model University by clustering prominent colleges in Jammu and Srinagar. Though, established with lot of expectations from the academia and the political establishment under liberal funding from RUSA, the Cluster University of Jammu is seen as major failure, as the role of the University has been nothing more than to be examining body.
In another twist, the Cluster University Jammu has included Deans Academic Affairs (DAA) who is a retired Professor, in the University Council instead of permanent Dean who has been appointed by the previous government led by Mehboobs Mufti.
"It has to be seen how such an arrangement shall benefit the Jammu region since the Cluster University of Jammu has been conceived as a symbol and Icon of the educational hub of the Jammu province," said a professor at Cluster University.
