MIET Students take Swachhta Abhiyan to villages

Jammu, July 11: Students of Model Institute of Engineering and Technology fanned out to various villages of J&K and commenced sanitation awareness drive.
According to press release, 14 teams of students selected 9 villages in 7 districts of J&K and decided to spend over 100 hours in each village by each team spreading Swachhta awareness among the villagers including the children by carrying out multiple activities.
60 students of the college got themselves enrolled in the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship - 2018 programme and made teams for this task. Villages selected are AMB (Jammu district), CHAK CHAMAN (Samba District), PADANOO (Udhampur district), DUGGA (Doda Dist), PORA PIEN (Doda District) NAGBAL and ICHGAM villages in Badgam District, NEHALPORA (Baramulla dist) and MONGHAMA (Pulwama dist).
The teams met the sarpanches / headmen of the villages took them along and are carrying on door-to-door sanitation awareness drive to educate every individual of the village. By screening the movies and playing dramas, they are motivating the younger lot of the villages to adopt practices like washing hands, cutting of nails, taking bath everyday and also educating ladies the need to keep themselves clean especially during the tough days of the month.
