Early Times Report Jammu, July 18: The Governor's office order of making biometric attendance compulsory in government offices was like a bombshell for truant employees but they are so far enjoying the technical and other glitches in the system, which have hindered the installation of biometric attendance system in the office. Hundreds of government Middle as well as Primary schools across the Jammu province are without biometric attendance system and have no plan to purchase the same. According to the teachers working in Middle and Primary schools of Kathua, Basohli, Lakhanpur, Dansal, Akhnoor, Balwal, Satwari, Billawar and other educational zones of Jammu province, so far no biometric attendance machines were installed. "There seems no plan of School administration to purchase the machinery from open market as the school has only Rs. 2000 funds available with them. Now the headmaster is not going to purchase the machinery from open market from his own pocket", a teacher posted in Lakhanpur block said adding that the order had dropped a bombshell on those teachers, who came to schools just for a few days in a month. "They have made Whatsapp groups through which they manage proxy attendances", the teacher said, adding that the biometric attendance system seemed to be a very good decision, which would curb the truant teachers but technical hurdles have become a major relief for them. The government must devise a plan to purchase all the biometric attendance machines for all government offices so that there would be no delay to curb absenteeism. Pertinently, most of the middle as well as primary schools across Jammu province have no biometric attendance systems in place. |
