Farmers training programme

JAMMU, Aug 1: Farmers Training Centre, Jammu today organized a one day Farmers training programme at village Kot Bhalwal of Jammu District in which 50 farmers of the area participated.
The programme was conducted under the directions of Director Agriculture Jammu HK Razdan and the guidance Deputy Director of Agriculture (Trainings) Jammu Sunil Koul.
Speaking on the occasion Training Officer Jammu Sarmesh Ghasi advised the farmers to improvise the crop production with the adoption of recommended agriculture techniques and through the usage of High Yielding Varieties' Seed and latest agricultural machinery.
He asked the farmers to avail the benefits of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) Scheme to meet out the expenses to raise the crops and also to get their crops insured under newly launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Deepak Kumar Farm Management Specialist, Jammu exhorted upon the farmers to avail the benefits of various farmers welfare schemes including PMKSY, Soil Health Cards Scheme (SCHS), Sub-Mission on Machinery (SMAM) and NAFCC. He said that the farmers can double their income through value addition of their products, diversification of agriculture through apiculture, organic vegetable cultivation, mushroom cultivation and growing of marigold & cut flowers.
Vandana Kotwal I/c AEO Bhalwal and elaborated upon various ongoing schemes, programmes and extension activities in the Zone Bhalwal. Amrik Singh, Junior Agriculture Extension Officer gave a detailed lecture on the scientific cultivation of maize and other kharif crops in the programme.
The others who attended the programme included O. N. Bhat JAEO Kot, Devinder Singh AEA, Jitender Verma AEA and Sonia Kotwal AEA. Small Hand Tools and literature on various schemes and programmes for the awareness of the farmers was also distributed on the occasion.
