In Talib's rape charge, Mehbooba stands exposed
8/2/2018 11:18:15 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 2: Talib Hussain, a self-styled activist who was at the forefront of demonstrations seeking justice in the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl from Rasana in Kathua, has been arrested from south Kashmir by the Samba police on the charge of raping a woman.
In Talib's arrest, former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti stays exposed as she remains tight-lipped on the development. On the contrary, Mehbooba was very vocal when the Kathua girl was raped by unknown people. Mehbooba, who was at the helm of affairs in the state that time, had announced that the eight-year-old girl should receive justice.
But Mehbooba's double-standards are yet again exposed as she has preferred to embrace silence over the recent allegation made by a married woman who has accused Talib of raping her in a jungle about one and a half month ago.
Why is not Mehbooba Mufti hitting the streets to protest against the self-styled activist? Is she too busy with her party matters that she is not even knowing about the matter?
"Her silence speaks louder than her words. It conveys all that she is an opportunistic politician and does not want to upset her constituency by speaking in favour of the victim. Her silence exposes her completely," said a political commentator who is watching Mehbooba's antics closely.
Another commentator said that Mehbooba is desperately trying to find some space in the local politics and her siding with the victim in this case will erode her whatever little reputation she has.
This is not the first time Mehbooba has put the finger on her lips and literally vowed not to speak against the alleged perpetrator.
Talib Hussain also has an FIR filed against him by his wife Nusrat Begum (30), who had approached the police on June 28, alleging that she was subjected to physical torture by her husband for dowry.
Mehbooba decided not to open her mouth even at that time.
