Four militants killed in Rafiabad, OGW of Ansar Gazwatul Hind apprehended

BARAMULLA, Aug 8: A day after four army men including major were martyred in Gurez sector, four militants were killed while as a Para commando got injured today in an encounter between militants and security forces in Rafiabad sector of this North Kashmir district.
Meanwhile police claimed that they have apprehended OGW of Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind in Baramulla.
A top police official while talking to Early Times said that after specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Panzalla area, a joint team of army's 32 RR and 9 PARA commandos launched a CASO in the dense woods of upper reaches of Rafiabad sector today.
"We came to know that a group of militants believed to be infiltrated recently through sector had a stand-off, after which the whole area was sealed from all corners so that they cannot escape from other side of the forest area," the police official said.
An army officer stationed in Rafiabad said that the commando of army's 9 PARA namely Naresh Chander Bhutt was injured in the initial gunfight and was immediately evacuated to nearby MI Room where from he was later airlifted to 92 base military hospital in Srinagar.
He said that four militants have been killed so for and the operation in on in the area adding the identity and group affiliation of militants are being ascertained. The militant group believed to be infiltrated recently through Uri sector, the official said.
Srinagar based army defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said that four militants have been neutralized in an encounter which broke out today morning at Lidder, Panzalla area of Rafiabad.
Meanwhile, Baramulla police claimed today that they have apprehended an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Ansar Gazwat-ul Hind in Baramulla.
A top rank official said that based on a specific information that one over ground militant of Ansar Gazwatul Hind (AGH) namely Irfan Ahmad Ganaie S/O Muhammad Ramzan Ganaie R/O Hajam Mohalalh, Rathsuna Tral was on way to Uri area to undertake some terrorist action, multiple Naka points/Motor Vehicle Checking Points (MVCPs) were established by Police and Security Forces in the area.
The individual was apprehended carrying a live Hand Grenade in Sheeri area on Baramulla-Uri road. His mobile phone was also seized. Case FIR No 39/2018 under provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been registered in Police Station Sheeri. Further investigation into the matter is going on, said police official.
