How MLAs' kin befool people | Inauguration of public works | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 9: Following the directive from Governor's administration barring MLAs from inaugurating public works by them as the Legislative Assembly has been put in suspended animation, the publicity hungry legislators have changed their modus operandi of taking credit for the developmental works executed by the present administration. These MLAs have started deputing their wards and kin at the launch of developmental works in their respective constituencies for giving an impression to the people that they were still relevant. On getting information about commencement of any developmental work in their constituencies, the kin of MLAs concerned immediately reach the site and start befooling the masses by propagating that the said work was initiated on the recommendation of legislator, who have been otherwise stripped of all powers, including the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Besides verbal propaganda, some of these legislators' kin are also uploading the pictures of these developmental works on the social media with a claim of taking credit for the works. Pertinent to mention that the Governor's administration has barred the legislators from inaugurating public works since the state Legislative Assembly has been put in suspended animation following imposition of Governor's Rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Even as the order in this regard was issued on July 8, some BJP MLAs and former ministers were seen inaugurating public works on July 9 and news in this regard were also carried in media following which the Governor's administration had warned strict action in this regard. However, sources said that some sycophant officers are still encouraging the practice of inaugurations where kin of the MLAs are secretly invited for the false propaganda without violating the Governor's directive. |
