Van mahotsava awareness with a difference, month long interactive sessions concluded

jammu, Aug 11: A month long festival of forest awareness campaign organized by Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing to mark 69th Van Mahotsava concluded here today at Forest Information Centre.
On the occasion, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Manoj Pant was the chief guest while classical music maestro Raghunath Singh Samyal presided over. Aparajita Pant was guest of honour.
Manoj Pant, PCCF, while sharing his vision and role of forests in food productivity, ground water recharge, role of pollinators in fruit formation, need for planting multipurpose native trees applauded the innovative Van mahotsava celebrations by Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing. Pant said that for the first time that regular awareness workshops including innovative cuisine development event at Institute of Hotel Management made far and wide impact on the minds of participants. He eulogized classical ragas woven around monsoon, megh malhar as solace for soul transcending all barriers and distractions for which he praised contributions of classical music maestro Raghunath Singh Samyal.
Director Ecology , Environment & Remote sensing while presenting keynote address highlighted that festival of forests popularly familiar to Indians as Van Mahotsava is not mere tree planting but it also includes forest conservation and conservation of culture including principles of coexistence with nature in its holistic way.
