Early Times Report SAMBA, Aug 17: Senior Congress leader has demanded reservation to the border residence living within the limit of 5 km of International Border. The demand was raised during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Congress leader Sarabjeet Singh which was held at Mandlayala and Kandral in Ramgarh. During the meeting, Singh said as the government has not provided reservation to the people of border villages along the International Border, the border people are suffering due to stiff competition in jobs and educational institutions. In view of their tough life because of border screams due to cross border shelling, he said, the people are unable to send their children to school though out the year. "Most of the time, the people have to shift to safer places. During the time of border shelling, the schools close to the IB remain closed and children are unable to do their studies. Hence, they must be provided reservation like ALC," said Sarabjeet Singh. He added that with reservation to the border people within the radios of 5 km, they will be able to compete with the rest of the state and will be able to get employment or enrolment in educational institutions. He said that border firing has disturbed the normal life along the International Border due to tension between the two countries when BJP took over rule in Union. Criticizing the union Government, he said, the BJP led by NDA Government has completely failed to provide safe places or accommodation on permanent bases to the border firing effected people. |
