JAMMU, Aug 20: School of Engineering and Technology Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri organized an 18 Day student induction program to the new entrants of B.Tech 2018 batch under TEQIP-III project. The program started on August 1st and closed on August 18, 2018. The purpose of the Induction Program was to help new students to adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them to build bonds with other students and faculty members, and to learn the larger purpose of life and self exploration. The Vice Chancellor of The University, Prof. Javed Musarrat conveyed the appreciation to the organising team and stressed upon the need of such programs to provide global outlook to the budding engineers. The 18 day long program was based on various important themes including creative arts and culture, mentoring universal human values, familiarization with college, dept./branch, inculcating scientific temperament, proficiency modules in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, lectures and workshops by eminent people, extra-curricular activities in college, feedback and report on the program. During the program students interacted with higher officials of the University including Registrar of the University, Deans of various schools, Heads of various departments, Chief Proctor, Chief Warden, Medical Officer, Librarian, faculty and student mentors. During the program expert lectures were also conducted including lecture on spoken tutorials by Shyma Iyer (National Coordinator of Spoken Tutorials) from IIT Bombay, Accreditation of degree programs and outcome based Engineering Education by Prof. Mohammad Idrees (Ex-Dean of Engineering and Technology AMU Aligarh). Students also visited various departments of the University and some local visits to Shadra Shrief, Chingus and Thindi Kasi were also arranged. |
