JAMMU, Aug 20: An awareness rally against the use of killer Chinese Manjha in which students of various schools participated. According to press release, the rally was organized by RTI and social activist Balvinder Singh in which members of civil society and students of Tinty Tots High School, Alexandar Memorial High School and Hari Singh Hr Secondary School participated. The rally was flagged off by Adl DC Rashpal Singh and SDPO North Varun Jandial. The rally started from Shaheedi Chowk and again culminated at Shaheedi Chowk after passing through various markets of Jammu city. It was to make people aware of the fatal effects of razor sharp thread made of nylon/plastic/synthetic using glass/metal generally known as "Chinese Manjha" also called as GATTU. Singh said that Manjha poses a great threat not only to people flying kites, but to bikers, scooterists and birds also. District Magistrate Jammu has also imposed ban on procuring stocking, sale and use of plastic/nylon strings generally known as "Chinese Manjha", used for kite flying under section 144 of CrPc.
