Defunct street lights welcome you at Kupwara Town | | | Early Times Report
KUPWARA, Aug 20: hough the authorities claim to have restored and installed many streetlights in the Kupwara Town from years, but the reality is beyond the claims as most of the lights are defunct since long. The residents of several areas said that the maximum of the street lights are lying defunct in their respective areas. Residents of Kupwara town complained that the streetlights installed in the area by the Power Department and Kupwara Municipal committee (KMC) were not functioning. A delegation from the area told our correspondent that some of the lights have gone out of order and the concerned KMC and PWD officials have failed to replace them. "A streetlight or roadside lights in our Town is not working for the past many months, yet nobody from the KMC nor PWD has visited the area to replace it. In absence of streetlights we are not able to go to Masjid in evening and morning," said Farooq Ahmad a social worker. "The Town residents appealed the KMC and PWD to depute a team for replacing the lights in the market and also in our streets', he added. |
