'Kharaashein' staged in Natrang Theatre Festival

JAMMU, Aug 21: On the second day of ongoing 4th Natrang Theatre Festival of 2018, a heart rendering performance of 'Kharaashein', a collage of Gulzar's literary creations on riots was presented under the direction of Rahul Singh today at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. The slick production won appreciation of all for its innovative design, craft, lights, music and professional acting in addition to its powerful content. Speaking on the occasion Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that Natrang always endeavours to give platform to its upcoming directors to explore new possibilities of storytelling by using their fresh creative energies. Rahul Singh a proud National scholarship holder of Natrang also had the occasion to undergo specialized training in direction from National School of Drama. Balwant Thakur appreciated the coordination between various creative departments that enhanced the overall impact of the performance; he also informed that Institution will continue to introduce more young Natrang directors. Three different stories on one common plot written by the celebrated writer Gulzaar were presented beautifully. The stories included 'Ravi Paar', 'Hilsa' and 'Khuda Hafiz'. 'Ravi Paar' is the story of India at the time of partition. Natrang actors who gave splendid performances in the play included Mohit Kaul, Gautam Kumar, Goutam Sharma, Khushal Sharma, Shivam Singh and Ajay Lalotra. The lights were designed by Shivam Singh operated by Pankaj Sharma and the music was rendered by Zeeshan Haider. The the hall management was looked after by Shivam Sharma, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Abhi Bargotra, Mahikshit Singh, Vanshika Gupta and Aafaque Khan. On the third day of ongoing Natrang Theatre Festival, Balwant Thakur's highly acclaimed children play 'Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai' will feature at Abhinav Theatre at 6 pm.
