DSS rues defacing of Gen Zorawar's statue | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 27: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has expressed concern over the defacing of General Zorawar's statue and threatened to launch an agitation. According to press release meeting of DSS was held at Dogra Bhawan, in which members took strong notice of the defacing of the Statue of Gen Zorawar Singh calling it a deliberate act of instigation to cause intra-communal tensions. While asking people to stay calm they warned the administration to trace and book the culprits and repair/ restore the statue at the earliest; which is presently a persistent explosive eye sore and source of causing irritation and raise passions. During the AGM on 16 Sept, the DSS plans to adopt some families of the battle casualties of Army and honour those who made supreme sacrifices in the year after 15 Aug 2017, from the three services, PMFs and police forces in coordination with Sainik Welfare Deptt. The meeting also condemned the persistent apathy of the government on continued deterioration and damage to the archives and the artifacts in the Dogra Art Museum being caused by seepage and humidity during monsoon. They demanded that all the exhibits kept in the basement and in closed Almirahs should be put to public display for people to have a last look before their priceless ancient treasure now perishing fast, gets vanished forever. |
