8/27/2018 10:56:38 PM
Early Times Report

Samba, Aug 27: A market linkage programme was organized at villages Sarna and Sarain of block Nud in Samba district. The programme was organized under the theme 'Developing Market Linkages for Maize Crop' of Farmer 'FIRST' Programme (FFP) of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J). The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. R. K. Arora, Associate Director Extension and Incharge Krishi Vigyan Kendra's (KVK's) of the University. More than 100 farmers including farm women from different villages of the two Panchayat were present on this occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Dr. R. K. Arora who is also the Principal Investigator of the Farmer 'FIRST' Programme; told that in one of its kind the FFP of SKUAST-Jammu has developed linkage with the renowned cattle feed of the state 'Shalimar Cattle Feed'. Under the linkage programme, the Shalimar Cattle Feed has agreed to provide marketing support to the farmers of the area. The Shalimar Cattle Feed will procure the maize crop from the fields of the farmers at a price which will be more than the market rate of the maize at that time and in return will give them the feed worth the amount of the maize taken at their factory rate. It is here pertinent to mention that the factory rate is lesser than the price the farmers have to pay to the sale man while they purchase it from the open market.
