Prof Gupta asks congress to clear stand on Article 35A
8/28/2018 10:39:20 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 28: Indicting the controversial and confusing voices being aired by certain aged and some other functionaries of the Congress party, the former Union Minister, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta asked the Congress leadership to come out clearly on their policies in J&K, especially on the issue of 35-A, Special Powers Act, measures to deal with the ultras, deporting of the Rohingyas and other foreigners unauthorizedly entering the State as also grant of citizenship rights to Pakistan refugees.
Prof. Gupta said that despite being a national level party, many of its leaders were indulging in highly intriguing statements putting the country to face embracing position. In this regard, he particularly referred to the dubious activities of the former PCC Chief, Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz, Mani Shanker Ayyer, new entrant in this field cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu and some others to make their presence felt without bothering the implication of their antics.
He said that the complex problems in this State are not new ones. These were rather the result of the follies and wrongs of their own leadership, but it sounds strange that these leaders are harping for dialogue with Pakistan even when there is no let up in the hostilities and cross border terror. He questioned that whether any meaningful dialogue is possible under the shadow of the gun and why they failed to do so when they were themselves in authority for so many years.
He also said that for a long time the Congress was a big body but now has squeezed to certain areas in the country but for lack of clarity on many issues.
