Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Aug 29: While condemning the August 22 incident at Machail Mata temple when the non-locals were allegedly beaten and the Charri Mubarak was disrespected by the local Sanstha management, Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar has requested Thakur Kulbir Singh to reconsider his decision of discontinuing taking holy Charri Mubarak from the temple of Chinote of Bhaderwah to Chandi Mata temple at Machail Padder and back to Chinote Bhaderwah as the Yatra was started by him.
In a statement, Hans Raj Butiyal, president Santhan Dharam Sabha, said: "It has been observed that some vested interest are hell bent upon to divide society on regional bases, which is highly condemnable and intolerable".
The Sanstha stated that the number of devotees is increasing every year which has crossed over two lac mark this year and it has observed that it is beyond the capacity of the organizing committee to manage the affairs of Yatra and their proper arrangements like stay and other facilities.
They also recommended for constitution of independent Shrine Board for Machail Mata keeping in view of the requirements and the infrastructure for the yatries.
Meanwhile mismanagement, lack of supervision and official mess has been blamed by the people for chaos and mess in this year Yatra which has witnessed record rush of pilgrims this year from all over India.
The people while condemning the Machail Bhawan incident said that there was chance that this year the annual Machail Yatra will itself cross the strength of Amar Yatra as Machail Yatra has so far cross the number of 2.50 lacs had the incident on 22-08-2018 would not have taken place.
The people said that the government shifted the Sub Divisional Magistrate Padder and assigned him the Amar Nath Yatra duty and the charge of the SDM Padder was given to junior officer in addition to his own duty.
People said that despite increase in the rate of air tickets by nearly Rs. 1400-1500 this year as compared to last year by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar through a dubious agreement between the private chopper service providers which was earlier fixed by the committee headed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, large number of devotees use chopper service for easy access to Machail Mata temple.
The angry people said that instead of reaching the Machail temple by tracking the 32 KM track up to Machail Bhawan, the District officers directly flew to Bhawan as a result of which they fail to monitor the arrangements on 32 KM track from Gulabgarh which was mostly used by the poor devotees.
Some of the devotees also called upon the Governor Satya Pal Malik and its advisors and Chief Secretary BVR Subramanyam to order the high level probe into the fixation of air ticket rates which were higher this year as compared to last year which put extra burden on the poor pilgrims.
They said that since the start of chopper service, the rates of tickets has reduce every year and it was only this the ticket rates were increased to give benefits to the private chopper service provide which needs to be probed.
