Police under threat from militants
9/2/2018 9:44:20 PM
If several relatives of policemen were abducted first and released later it was part of the plan of militants to demonstrate their capacity of hitting the policemen below the belt. It was also part of the plan to create scare among the policemen who are, as militants believe that these policemen were the main hindrance to their supremacy because they (Police) invariably pass on information to security forces about the plans and hideouts of militants. Thus the militants wanted to teach a lesson to the police. Everyone in the police are careful about their wards and none can tolerate abduction of their wards by militants. Luckily militants did not kill them. All relatives of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel abducted by militants from different parts of south Kashmir on Thursday evening were freed. This is first indication of better surveillance of militants. Not only this these militants seem to be bare footed and know the are as from where they struck. Militants at the same time released videos of those abducted appealing to the state Director General of Police to "not harass the families of militants". The abductions started on Wednesday evening from Tral in Pulwama district where a policeman's son was taken away from his house. The first abduction was carried out hours after Hizbul Mujahideen operation commander Reyaz Naikoo's father was taken into police custody. Naikoo had then warned the police to release all relatives of militants within three days or face dire consequences. The arrest of Naikoo's father coincided with the setting ablaze of at least three houses of militant families in Shopian, allegedly by security forces. Those abducted included close relatives of some senior police officials, including at least two Deputy SPs, an SHO and a Sub-Inspector. Naikoo announced their release via an audio message circulated over social media. "We have released them for now, but the policemen should learn a lesson and be aware that we can harm their families at will."He said the war was not against the policemen, but the militants were being pushed to take extreme steps. "The next time we abduct their kin, they should know we can't keep them for long. And they know we have only one way of punishment," Naikoo said It means that wards of policemen were abducted to force the police to release Naikoo's father. Also it meant that wards of policemen do not join the police and avoid facing the wrath of militants otherwise more policemen and their stations will come under attack.
