People stage protest against PDD

Kathua, Sept 9: Agitated over no power supply in the area for the last two days, locals of ward No 8,9 and 12 of Parliwand area of Kathua on Sunday afternoon blockade Kathua To Halti Morh Road and Stage Strong protested against Power Development Department (PDD) Kathua
A large number of people mostly women squatted on the road and paralyzed the movement of vehicular traffic for more than one hour.
They were raising slogans against the PDD and demanding immediate restoration of the power supply by replacing the damaged transformer.
They lamented that people specifically children are facing problem without electricity for the last two days as the PDD authorities did not replace the damaged transformer. "Despite repeated pleas to the concerned authorities, there has been no action with the result that people of the area are suffering a lot in the heat," they added.
Later the PDD officers AEE along with SHo Kathua , reached the spot and pacified the protesters.On this assurance people lifted the road blockade.
The protesters further threatened to block the National Highway if the damaged transfer is not replaced with in time or immediately.
