JDA warns people against fraud, illegal sales of land in Jammu
9/10/2018 6:51:12 PM

Jammu, Sep 10
The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has said that some "unscrupulous elements" are indulging in illegal sale of its land in 26 areas of the city, and cautioned people against buying such plots.

"Some unscrupulous elements are indulging in sale of the land in some areas by misrepresenting facts on the basis of invalid papers and are thus cheating the general public," the JDA vice chairman said.

These areas include Pargalta, Majalta, Nagrota, Jagti, Khanpur, Sitni, Panj Grain, Kore Jagir, Malori Jagir, Sidhra, Mujeen, Rangora, Sunjwan, Tangar, Choudi, Dilli, Mirpur, Gadigarh, Rakh Raipur, Belicharana, Gole, Paloura, Balwal, Kot, Keran, Khari and Nagbani of Jammu city.

"The prospective buyers are hereby cautioned" against purchasing such, he said.

"Any sale/purchase on the basis of affidavits or without any revenue documents is illegal and invalid," he said.

"Individuals resorting to such sale and purchase of land through illegal means are liable to punishment under relevant provisions of law, in addition to their eviction from illegally-occupied JDA land," he said.

Alleging "massive encroachment" of state land, the CAG has earlier pulled up the Jammu Development Authority for failing to demarcate 7,243 acres of its land and asked the state government to direct the authority to register the land and take its possession.

The report, which was tabled in the Assembly recently, said, "Audit observed that the land measuring 7,243 acres had not been demarcated."

The authority was not able to get the entire land transferred by the state government in its name and take physical possession thereof, it said.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) expressed concern that out of demarcated land measuring over 2,235 acres, 351 acres had been encroached upon and remained under illegal occupation.
