'Open Talk' organized by Rotary Club of Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 10: Rotary Club of Jammu City (RCJC) and Eco-Femme India organised an Open Talk on Sustainable Menstruation today at Govt. Hospital, Gandhi Nagar and Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar with an intention of promoting the awareness, particularly amongst girls and women, and society at large in Jammu and suburbs.
The Eco-Femme Ambassador Sofia Moradas was the key Speaker at the event. Rotary Club Jammu Elite and Midtown were co-partners in this endeavour.
Speaking on the occasion, Sofia said "Eco - Femme produces and promotes washable cloth menstrual pads, an alternative menstrual product, which lasts for approx 75 washes. Cloth menstrual pads are rapidly gaining acceptance around the world for their health, environmental and cost saving benefits.
K.B. Magotra President, RCJC said that "Eco Femme pads are certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) as made of organic cotton flannel which is not only reusable but when cared for properly, can reduce the risk of infections and irritation. Women in J&K shall be benefitted enormously from its use as it is an environment friendly concept".
Anil Swaraj (PP), the Project Director, RCJC said that "Soon a core committee of woman Rotarians shall be appointed to take forward the production of eco-femme pads locally in Jammu. He also said " We have to sensitize women of J&K to embrace this great cause and support further activities such as a volunteer cooperation, a production unit to promote women livelihood issues, free distribution and promotion of subsidized pads to disadvantaged communities.
Sandeep Berry, Secretary, RCJC and Kiran Rajput, Principal Govt. Girls School, Gandhi Nagar thanked the Key speaker Sofia. Rtn Adeep Mehta, Rtn Ravinder Kaul, Rtn Robin Mehta, Rtn Sanjiv Vaid, Rtn Sunny Gupta, Rtn Sushma, Rtn Ritika Mahajan, Rtn Deepali Sharma, Rtn Gurvinder Kaur, Rtn Manisha Swaraj, Rtn Anamika, Rtn Ritu Berry and galaxy of other Rotarians graced the occasion. The function was well attended by women from different walks of life.
