IRC observes World First Aid Day

JAMMU, Sept 13: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State Branch celebrated World First Aid Day - 2018 across the state in 5 districts of Jammu, Ramban, Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara wherein Mock Drills were conducted followed by Awareness sessions on First Aid and its importance in saving lives.
Volunteer registration drives were also a part of this year World First Aid Day celebrations. The theme for this World First Aid Days was "ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS". The participants were made aware about the importance of knowing first aid and helping people during Road Traffic Accidents. Symposiums were also organized highlighting the awareness about Prevention of road accidents and Actions in case of road accidents.
The main function was held at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar Kashmir where Mock Drill was organized under the supervision of National Level Master Trainer of Red Cross, Dr. Itinderpal Singh Bali. Honorary General Secretary, MS Rather was also present during this even and in his speech Rather welcomed the guests, participants and resource persons and commended the Red Cross Society for rendering humanitarian services to the people in distress. He further stressed the need to develop coordination between Red Cross and the educational institutions to take the mission to the grassroots level. He particularly appreciated the degree of level and commitment of the participants.
The World First Aid Day celebrations were also held at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, R.S. Pura, Jammu wherein Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, Regional Red Cross Committee presided the function along with other dignitaries. The teacher present on the occasion were registered as volunteers and it was decided that the enrolled teachers shall be imparted First Aid Training by the Red Cross in order to build the capacity alongside International Border and the services of these first aiders shall be rendered during cross border escalations.
