Irregularities in PMGSY road construction
Collapsed retaining walls damage houses, farm land

Udhampur, Sept 22: Throwing all norms to winds, sub-standard material was used in construction of retaining wall and protection walls of PMGSY Road from Ghordi to Khalad.
The PMGSY started work on the said road almost two years ago. The walls are damaged and kannals of farm land have been washed away due to collapse of retaining and protection walls.
A road stretch of almost 10-15 km from Ghordi to Khalad village in District Udhampur has been left imcomplete and is in deplorable condition. The stretch causes inconvenience to th villagers.
Locals while talking to early times said that the work on th road has been left halfway with maximum components of the road missing. Moreover, the quality of some of the components like culvert, retaining walls were very poor and damaged. Locals added that due to the sub-standard material to construct retaining walls almost 25 houses suffered partial damage.
Locals further appealed to the concerned authority for immediate action for completion of the work and to constitute an inquiry into the matter.
