Srinagar district keeps date with history as mere two percent come out to vote in municipal polls
Reasi records highest voting percentage of 84 percent, zero votes polled in Chattabal

Jammu/Srinagar, Oct 10: Srinagar district kept a date with history as mere two percent of people living in 20 wards of summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir came out to vote as the second phase of civic polls culminated across the state today.
Out of the total number of 1, 86,085 voters' just 4169 electors came out to exercise their franchise in the municipal polls. In total 2.24 percent voting was recorded in the Srinagar district.
The Chattabal ward located in downtown Srinagar created a record of sorts as zero percent polling was recorded there. Out of 8740 electors none came out to vote during the civic polls. Lawaypora ward recorded the highest number of 1020 votes out of 6493 votes.
Just eight votes were polled at the Tankipora ward out of total number of 10369 votes. In the same manner in the Syed Ali Akbar ward eight people came out to vote out of the 7762 voters. Not far away in the Fateh Kadal ward 28 votes were polled out of the total number of 11267 votes.
In the Basant Bagh ward 54 votes were polled out of the total number of 13748 votes. In the Ziyarat Batmaloo ward 62 votes were polled out of 8795 votes. In the Nundreshi colony ward in Bemina 68 votes were polled out of 9248 votes while as in the Karan Nagar ward 71 votes were polled out of 7480 votes.
In the Aloochi Bagh ward 84 votes were polled out of 7178 votes with the nearby Sheikh Dawood Colony ward witnessing poll of 88 votes out of total number of 11114 votes.
In the Munawarabad ward 106 votes were polled out of 13009 votes. One hundred sixteen (116) votes were polled out of the total number of 9151 votes. In the Shaheed Gunj ward 123 votes were polled out of the total number of 7312 votes. In the Qamarwari ward 142 votes were polled out of the total number of 7291 votes.
In the Bemina East ward 212 votes were polled out of 11029 votes while as in Bemina West 228 votes were polled out of 8038 votes. In the Solina ward 355 votes were polled out of 5671 votes. In the Mujgund ward 453 votes out of 9639 votes while as in Zainakote ward 943 votes were polled out of 12774 votes.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shaleen Kabra said that overall 31.3 percent polling was witnessed in the phase two phase of municipal polls. Kabra said in Jammu division 78.6 percent polling was witnessed in 214 wards that went to polls today while as Kashmir division witnessed average 3.4 percent polling in 49 wards with Bandipora recording the highest 35.6 percent voting.
In Jammu division highest polling percentage of 84.4 percent was recorded in Reasi, the CEO said. He said the cumulative polling percentage till date is 47.2 percent with 67.7 percent voting recorded in Jammu division and 8.3 percent in Kashmir Division in phase one and two.
The CEO said that 544 polling stations were designated across the state for phase two with 270 polling stations in Kashmir Division and 274 in Jammu Division. He said 1029 candidates are in the fray for 263 municipal wards for phase two with 881 candidates in Jammu division and 148 in Kashmir division.
In the first two phases, he said, 436285 voters have exercised their franchise out of a total of 933,000 voters who were eligible to vote for these two phases.
