Farmers training camp organized

Jammu, Oct 14: Deptt of Agriculture, Sub-Division Udhamur, Zone Tikri oragnised Farmers Training Camp on Pulses at village Sundrani.
The programme was held under CSS Sub Mission on Seed and Planting Material (Seed Village).
Large number of farmers including women farmers participated in the programme. District Agriculture Officer (Extension) Ajay Sharma in his address deliberated upon the importance of pulse crop for farmere vis-a- vis its nutritive, economic and soil health value. He exhorted upon the trainees to avail the incentives provided by the centrally sponsored scheme on pulses and other schemes. He also stressed upon the need for certified, high quality germplasm of onion in Sundrani area.
He further advised farmers to avail services of Plant Health Clinic Udhampur and to participate in exposure tours outside state.
Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh delineated the significance of Seed Village, its preservation and replication systems. He underlined the need of reducing the over- dependence upon seeds procured from other states. He encouraged the farmers to apply for availing micro-irrigation and farm mechanisation schemes of deptt. Rajesh Gupta, Subject Matter Specialist (DL) advised farmers to adopt integerated and sustainable system of pest/disease control and soil management. Sushil Gupta, SMS (DL) spurred upon participants to take help of extension schemes of deptt to fullest extent.
Vikas Padha SMS (SL) stressed upon need for cluster formation of aspiring farmers for doubling the farm income as envisaged by central govt. He also reviewed the pathological problems faced by onion growers of area and suggested remedial measures.
Ajay Sharma Agriculture Extension Officer, Zone Tikri briefed the Worthy officers about extension activities of Zone and expressed commitment for the all-round agriculture development the area.
Frontal field functionaries of zone including Pankaj, Kamal Jit Singh, Sumesh Sharma, Balbir Singh, Manjeet Singh and Sandip Gupta were also present in the programme.
