Early Times Report Udhamour, Oct 15: Continuing drive against narcotics substances launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur- Rayees Bhat, today Udhampur police claimed to have recovered 126 kg of contraband substance (poppy straw) and arrested three inter-state narcotic smugglers. Rayees Bhat, SSP Udhampur said that based on reliable information, a party of Udhampur police station led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib-SHO Udhampur under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani, DySP HQ raised a naka at Jakheni Udhampur for checking of vehicles. "During naka checking, police party noticed a Bolero bearing registration number PB08EB-1537 tow chained by a Tata Mobile bearing registration number PB08G-7124, which were subjected to thorough search", said SSP. He further said that during search, 126 kg poppy straw was recovered hidden clandestinely in a false compartment. Police identified the arrested as Harjinder Singh of Massa, Phillaur, Simranjeet Singh of Taleem Phillaur Jallandhar and Sukha Singh of Lamaleen Ludhiana. The trio was arrested on the spot. In this connection, a case under NDPS Act has been registered in Udhampur police station and further investigation of the case taken up. |
