Early Times Report

Vijaypur, Oct 16: The office of the Zonal Education Officer Vijaypur has been functioning from a private building for the last 15 years, while authorities concerned have turned a blind eye to the gross erosion of state exchequer on rent bill. Sources told Early Times that the office building is situated near Vijaypur town. Although after creation of separate Samba district, many offices were shifted to newly constructed administration building but Education Department instead of making provision for providing the ZEO Vijapur a permanent building, continued in the rented building, pinching the exchequer in the form of rent. "The Department has been paying Rs 18000/- per month as rent for the private building. Although the ZEO office has been shifted to a new place but earlier it was paying Rs 3000/- as rent and now for new building the rent is six times higher" they said further adding that the request for approval in this connection was sent to Chief Education Officer Samba, which was forwarded to Commissioner Office at Civil Secretariat by the CEO Samba but till date nothing has been done. Sources informed that despite sufficient Government accommodations, the department has been showing leniency to the take up this matter seriously. When contacted, ZEO Vijaypur Gopal Khajuria said that he has been continuously raising this matter with higher authorities and hoped that soon Zonal office will get its own building.
