Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: The Bani, Basohli Tourism Development Authority (BBDA) has exposed all claims of BJP leaders for promotion of tourism in Jammu region as the authority created 20 months back in papers but so far no employee was posted here.
Wishing anonymity, an official of Tourism department told Early Times that PDP-BJP government in January 2017 had announced four Tourism Development Authorities across state and after a month cabinet headed Chief Minister Mehbooba Muthi accorded sanction of three including Bani, Basholi Tourism Development Authority.
"At that time, the government claimed that the newly created authority could be equipped with latest infrastructural constructed for development as attractive and attractive tourist destinations but surprising over one and half year lapse the government yet not start the demarcation of the area which falls into BBDA", sources said, adding that except BBDA, government appointed CEO and other staff for others two authorities
In absence of manpower the BBDA even after creation no step could be initiated towards creation of infrastructure to tap the available tourism potential of the area. Leaders who were vociferous in demanding of the tourism development authority for the region have failed to get CEO appointed by taking up the issue with government. It seems that they are satisfied with only creation just to highlight this as one of their achievements during they were in power.
Jaswant Singh, a local resident of Bani said that the so called leaders of Jammu division (particular MLAs of the areas) claimed, establishment of authority in the areas will be a big boost for the integrated development of tourism sector in the area also provide employment to educated unemployment youth but astoundingly these leaders yet to sanctioned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) post and others manpower for this authority.
