Another NC leader quits because of 'former JNU leader' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 1: Amid growing dissent in the National Conference over "undue pampering" of a former JNU leader who is likely to join the party, another NC leader tendered her resignation. Prominent social worker and medico, Dr Sheikh Aamina has quit the NC. She informed the people about her decision through Twitter. She had quit the party along with her friends. Dr Aamina who would often be seen rubbing shoulders with the Abdullahs during the NC functions not only publicly informed about her decision but also gave the reason behind the same. In a series of tweets she said she was leaving the party "because of a former JNU leader." Dr Aamina who had been associated with the NC for the past over eight years said she continued to be the "worker at grassroots" whereas new faces were being pampered by the party leadership. As already reported by the Early Times, the Abdullahs have been coming under severe criticism from within the party for giving "excessive support" to a former JNU leader who is seen as close to the party. Recently a senior NC leader had resigned from the party where as it was reliably learnt that the said leader had been having differences with the Abdullahs over their plan to promote the former JNU leader in a "big way." The party leaders said the former JNU leader is likely to join the NC soon and that she was to be given a "key position and mandate" in the party. As per the party leadership, the NC has already started making huge investments on the former JNU leader. "From holding a seminar at a five star hotel to hosting her guests from New Delhi for book reading session the party has been working hard to get her into the party folds," said a senior NC leader on the condition of anonymity. But what is irking the party leadership is that "why should one fresher get all attention and position whereas the old names are being ignored." Sources said some of the party leaders are planning to pick up the matter with the Abdullahs in the coming days. Despite repeated attempts the NC leaders or the former JNU leader couldn't be contacted for comments. |
