Inter-polytechnic sports meet concludes

Jammu, Nov 2: The first Inter polytechnic annual sports meet "Sporttech 2018" organized for the 1st time in Technical Education Department by Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk Jammu concluded in the college campus here today.
During the five days long Sports Meet more than 500 students from Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Women Polytechnic Jammu and ASC Polytechnic participated in various Inter-Polytechnic Sports Tournaments in the disciplines of Cricket, Volleyball, Table-Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Tug of war, Rangoli and Wall Painting w.e.f. 29th October 2018 to 2nd Nov 2018. The Sports meet was earlier inaugurated by Sh. Ajeet Kumar Sahu (IAS), Secretary, School and Technical Education, J&K Government on 29th October 2018. The Chief Guest of closing ceremony was Anoo Malhotra (KAS), Director, Technical Education, J&K, Government and Guest of Honour was Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college. Speaking on the occasion, Anoo Malhotra applauded the efforts of the Principal of the college in organizing 1st Inter-Polytechnic Sports meet SPORTECH 2018 and said that sports play pivotal role for mental and physical development of the body.
Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college lauded the efforts of the all the students of various Polytechnics for their performances and sports man spirit during the sports meet. The prizes and trophies were distributed among the winners and runners of various events. All the sportspersons from various Polytechnics participated with sportsman spirit in various events during the meet and the students of various polytechnics thanked Er Arun Bangotra Principal of the institute for providing them with such a platform to show case their talents in 5 days 1st Inter Polytechnic Sports meet.
The day started with the final cricket match between G P Kishtwar and G P Jammu. Batting 1st G P Kishtwar scored 68 runs on the slow pitch in 12 overs and won the nail biting final from G P Jammu with 2 runs. Waqar younis from G P Kishtwar took 3 wickets and was declared MOM and Kuljeet Singh of G P Jammu was declared Man of the series for taking 11 wickets and scoring 83 runs in the series.
The award of appreciation was presented to the organizing committee and various convenors of the events which include Er. Inderjeet Singh, Chairman Organising Committee, Er. K.S. Bhatia Sports Secretary, Mrs Guminderpreet Kour PEM and Toshi Devi PET, Er Sukhdeep Singh, Er Rajesh Gupta, Er Sanjay Gupta, Er Zia ul Haq, Ar Ritika Wadhera, Mr Amit Sharma, Mr Rajesh Khajuria, Er Akash Dasgotra and Mr Vinay Kumar. The event was coordinated by Er Sakshi Kapai and vote of thanks was presented by Er Vandana Chib.
Other who was present on the occasion was Er Ritu Jamwal, Principal, Govt Women Polytechnic Jammu, Er Vivek Sharma, Govt Polytechnic Kathua, HODs of various department and other staff and students of the various Polytechnics of Jammu Division.
