Farooq abstains autonomy & favours Ireland type solution
11/8/2018 8:44:55 PM
Premier National Conference party has advocated a number of solutions for resolving the Kashmir issue. First it has supported restoration of greater autonomy, later it has advocated the cause of resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue and now it has come up with an idea of Ireland type solution to the Kashmir problem. The National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah has urged governments of India and Pakistan to start a sustained dialogue process and advocated an Ireland-type settlement model to resolve the procrastinated Kashmir issue. The three-time chief minister while addressing a public gathering has said a day would come when the people of Jammu Kashmir will breathe in a peaceful atmosphere shorn of any insecurity. "We shouldn't feel disheartened. The current situation is grave but we have witnessed even worst throughout the history. At one time in our history, people would not buy the idea that the autocratic rule will end. But a day came when democratic forces usurped the king's throne with determination and struggle," he said. Farooq Abdullah knows it better than anybody else that India is not opposed to resumption of dialogue but New Delhi has conveyed to Islamabad that talks and terror cannot coexist. Let Farooq Abdullah motivate Pakistan for ending export of terror to India, particularly to Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to this let Farooq Abdullah prevail upon Pakistan to stop aiding infiltration and once export of terror is stopped alongwith end to ingress it may give relief to people living in Kashmir. Once terror is exported so is ingress rate increased incidents of violence may take plac e in Kashmir valley. And in this phase of violence Ireland type solution may not succeed in settling the Kashmir problem. Farooq should know it that Pakistan is the main stakeholder and if Islamabad rejects, as is expected, where will Ireland type solution resolve the Kashmir issue.Farooq Abdullah should know it better than anybody else that Pakistan may also reject grant of greater autonomy to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. This is an irritation to Pakistan and to the separatists who m atter in Kashmir. Once Pakistan seems not interested in the resumption of dialogue process. Had it been in favour of talks it should have accepted simple preconditions laid down by India. It has not done during the last over on e year which indicates that Pakistan is interested in allowing the incidents of violence to increase in Kashmir. And finally the people of Kashmir may rise is revolt against Pakistan and finally seek protection from the demoractic India. Once this violence ends there could be no justification for human rights violation.
