JKNPP protests seeking SIT probe into Block President's murder
11/9/2018 9:41:32 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today protested against the alleged murder of SC Cell block President of party and demanded Special Investigation Team (SIT).
According to press release, Panthers party activists spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and other leaders held a protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground in Jammu today. The agitated protesters sought immediate arrest of the criminals involved in the ruthless homicide and demanded security cover for the party leadership who were being threatened by the goons owing allegiance to opposition parties particularly the BJP.
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Dev Singh said that the Panthers leader was allegedly assassinated by the political opponents under a well hatched conspiracy.
He said that the deceased Dharam Chand who was contesting the Sarpanch election from Lehar Panchayat of Kulwanta Block had visited the Tehsil office Ramnagar on Tuesday, 30 October, 2018 in connection with fulfilment of necessary formalities for filing his nomination papers.
"The very same evening, he was mercilessly assaulted by some unidentified goons while he was returning to home and left unconscious in a pool of blood. He had received grave multiple injuries on his head to which the doctors gave 45 stitches and referred him to GMC Hospital in an unconscious state. The deceased succumbed to his injuries in the Hospital without recovering from the state of coma", Harsh said.
He regretted that despite a reign of terror unleashed in Ramnagar by the fringe elements, the local administration was allowing the ruffians and criminals to go scot free in view of the political clout enjoyed by them.
Gagan Pratap Singh State Secy said that the Party Chairman had been receiving numerous threats of physical elimination from BJP leaders, the details of which were repeatedly provided to Police but of no consequence. He said that a highly biased police administration in District Udhampur had refused to take cognizance of dozens of complaints filed against the notorious elements of BJP who were openly indulging in hooliganism with public announcements to kill the Panther leaders.
He said that even the video recordings and documentary evidence of one Rajinder Kumar alias Boor Pakodi a BJP Mandal President who openly threatened to eliminate Harsh Dev in a public meeting were also provided to Police authorities, but they were disregarded and thrown into the dustbin at the behest of their political masters. Similarly, he said another BJP worker named Mohan Singh had threatened to " lay the dead bodies of NPP leaders and its Chairman on the ground" in the presence of BJP MLA and police officers which was duly video-graphed and presented to higher authorities of Police but failed to elicit any response.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Sham Gorkha, Rajiv mahajan, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Surinder Chauhan, Shankar Singh Sanju, Udeyveer, Jitender Verma, Darshan Singh, Subhash Singh besides others.
