Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Nov 9: In a bid to derail the ongoing investigation into the murder of BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar, some political persons tried to influence the transfer of two important police officers who are part of the Special Investigation Team probing the double murder.
Sources told the Early Times that soon after the SIT was constituted by the government, some political leaders from Kishtwar approached some senior government functionaries to seek transfer of SIT incharge, the Additional SP Kishtwar, Parbeet Singh, and Deputy SP headquarters Aiyaz Sheikh.
Both Singh and Sheikh are considered "highly professional in dealing with these types of case and have cracked several high profile cases in the past," said sources.
They said these politicians want to keep the political pot boiling and perhaps might want to derail the investigation so that real culprits could not be brought to book as a "clear political link has emerged in the case."
However, sources said, Governor's Advisor K Vijay Kumar, who has vast experience in dealing with these types of cases in his 35-year career, blocked all attempts to sabotage the SIT probe. "The SIT officials were directed to continue with their investigation and bring the real culprits to book without succumbing to any political pressure," said sources.
It is pertinent to mention that SIT has so far questioned over five dozen people and managed to get vital clues regarding the killers as well as the politicians who could be behind the double murder.
