Ganai reviews functioning of School Edu Deptt, progress of flagship schemes

JAMMU, Nov 14: Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai today convened a meeting to review the implementation of State and centrally-sponsored schemes under the School Education Department.
Among others, Secretary School Education Department Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Special Secretary, School Education Department Mohammad Hussain Mir, Director, School Education, Jammu Rakesh Kumar Srangal and other concerned attended the meeting. During the meeting, the Advisor took a detailed review of the education scenario in the state and said the department should identify all the shortcomings in the schools and make every possible effort to rectify them as well.
The Advisor directed for expediting up-gradation of left-over government Schools from Middle to High and High to Higher Secondary level besides providing adequate infrastructure at the elementary level. He impressed upon the officers to make teaching-learning process more student-centric and directed for adopting activity-based learning so as to ensure maximum participation of students in the process. He also directed to expedite progress under Capital expenditure under various schemes.
While reviewing the progress on implementation of Samgra Shiksha Abhiyan, the Advisor asked for the removal of bottlenecks, if any, besides giving publicity to the activities being undertaken under the Central Flagship Schemes.
The Advisor directed the School Education Department to identify the schools where subject-specific teachers and other infrastructure are required for promotion of Urdu, Kashmiri, Dogri, Bodhi and Punjabi languages.
The Advisor also directed to conduct in-house examinations up to 7th standard in government schools for the convenience of the students.
Ganai also directed to expedite the proposal for amalgamation of DIETs (District Institute of Education & Training) into SCERT (State Council for Educational Research & Training).
