JAMMU, Nov 20: Responding to a news report published in section of press today titled "Court stays elections in Panchayat Halqa Jindrah", a spokesman of the office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K today said, it seems that an order passed by the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K vide office letter no: 5402/CEO/ LS/Pyt/2018/ 122 dated: 9/11/2018 has not been brought to the notice of the Court.
"The perusal of the Court order, quoted in the news report, states that the elections shall remain stayed in case no specific decision is taken by passing a speaking order," he said and added that since the order dated 9/11/2018 has already been issued by the election authority (CEO, J&K), the election process would continue and this fact needs to be brought to the notice of general public as the news item gives a contradictory impression. |
