Early Times Report
Udhampur, Nov 22: Over fifty fine Thousand Population from remote and mountainous area of Sub-Division Dudu-Basantgarh in district Udhampur is suffering because of dilapidated condition of Ramnagar-Basantgarh road.
Though this road was declared motorable about three decades back but now the black topping from has vanished due to passage of time.
The distance between Ramnagar and Basantgarh is about 64 kms. The road between Ramnagar and Kalwantta is little better but ahead of that entire road up to Basantgarh and even Dudu, Latti is in worst condition
Sources informed that crores of Rupees Sanctioned for repair works but it seems that even single Penney has not been spent on the road.
There are no sign boards, mile stones and protection walls on this mountainous road. This road was apparently never blacktopped. Upper concrete rough surface of crushed stones has also disappeared.
The area which is most picturesque having great tourism potential has been neglected by the Tourism department as well. There are beautiful water falls in Dudu and Latti areas. The thick forests of Deodar trees, cool weather and green pastures at the bank of river Tawi at Dudu and Shiv Gali have great tourism attractions. But neither the local MLAs from Chenani and Ramnagar could help to change the destiny of the people, The District Administration heads also showed least interest in developing these most beautiful areas just closer to Seoj Dhar.
Local said that Basantgarh-Dudu Known for its unique cultural heritage, weather, harmony and patriotism, and emerged as one of prosperous and peaceful area in district Udhampur . However, all its prosperity and beauty turns so ugly like feet of peacock when our eyes go to its under developed - poor road connectivity, worst conditions of roads, and lack of tourism despite huge potential.
They added that Basantgarh is situated approx. 96 km from Udhampur via Ramnagar and from Ramnagar its take four to five Hours in Public Transport to Reach Basantgarh a backbone break Journey. Locals added that Dudu-Basantgarh Have Potential to attract the Tourist but due to criminal Negligence Attitude of Tourisms Department as well as District Administration, the development in Dudu-Basantgarh is Nil. Locals added that its need to be verified that How many Funds have been released and utilized and high level probe have been ordered and early Repair of Said road they added.
