| Dhangri, Rajouri blocks go to polls in third phase of Panchayat elections | | |

RAJOURI, Nov 23: In the third phase of Panchyat elections scheduled for November 24 the election will be held in two blocks in this district. These blocks are Dhangri and Rajouri.
According to official information for Dhangri block 80 contestants are in the field for 17 seats of Sarpanches while 274 candidates have filed their nomination papers to try their luck for 129 posts of Panches. In this block no nomination was rejected for Sarpanch and Panch posts however, 22 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.
In Rajouri block for 23 posts of sarpanches 83 candidates are in fray while for 191 seats of Panches 274 candidates have been trying their luck. In Rajouri block no nomination paper was rejected however, 27 persons have withdrawn their nominations in favour of other candidates.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the district administration for the smooth conduct of the elections.
In the first phase of Pnachayat elections in Manjakot and Panjgrain blocks on November 17, 80.33 % polling was recorded in Manjakot block while in Panjgrain block 76.26% polling was recorded.
In the second phase on November 20, panchayat elections were held in Lamberi and Siot blocks. 83.75 % polling was recorded in Lamberi block while in Siot block 83.41 polling was recorded and in both the blocks polling was held smoothly and peacefully. |
