CUJ organizes workshop on Teaching Learning at DIET Leh

JAMMU, Nov 23: A two-day long workshop on "Teacher as Resource, ICT and MOOCs for Quality in Teaching Learning" at District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh was organized by Centre for Learning and Pedagogics, Centre for Teacher Resource and Academic Support and Centre for Assessment and Evaluation, School of Education, Central University of Jammu (CUJ).
The workshop was organized under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT).
The workshop, which was attended by about 85 teachers from various zones of Leh district, had 6 technical sessions with the key objectives to enable teachers to become competent in innovatively employing the tools of technology to supplement their traditional teaching methods and thereby achieve enhanced student learning; give an insight on a series of ICT tools that implicitly support creative learning and innovative teaching. The Vice Chancellor personally participated in this workshop in the extremely adverse weather conditions on the valedictory day and appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the workshop.
Total 85 participants took part in the workshop. The group primarily constituted of Lectures working with DIET, teachers from higher secondary schools, high schools and primary schools from across the District Leh, and trainee teachers from District Institute of education and Training (DIET) Leh.
Earlier, on the inaugural day Prof K Sriniwas from NIEPA took up interactive sessions developing awareness of the potential applications of ICT to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum and to also enhance ICT literacy and confidence among teachers.
On second day of the workshop, Prof P K Biswas from STRIDE, IGNOU, New Delhi deliberated on two themes: Asynchronous Technological Means and Supports for Teaching-Learning, and Personality Development for Teachers. He used 'Brain Reading' as technique to initiate the discussion and involvement of the participants.
