Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 28: A junior engineer in Rural Engineering Wing (REW) in Samba district has allegedly tampered with Detail Project Report (DPR) by using digital cut-paste system to place signature of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba.
According to sources, the matter has been brought into notice of the DC Samba, but other officers of RDD are trying to hush-up the matter. "The JE, tampered DPR of PMAY house approved by the District Development Commissioner, Samba", sources claimed and added that in the DPR estimate of PMAY house was Rs 1.72 lakhs and was technically approved by the DC, ACD and XEn REW Jammu. "During visit of Block Vijaypur, JE Romesh Gupta approached the XEN REW Samba to record technical work check certificate on the tampered DPR of same work worth Rs 1.59 lakh with DC's scan-pasted signature", sources said and added that if the signature of DC could be tampered that too on approved DPR, the RDD officials can do anything. "Such official can involve anybody in embezzlement, as RDD has already been in news for various scandals", sources said and added that on November 16, 2018 the concerned Exen informed the District Development Commissioner about the tampering vide his letter number XEn/REW/S/18-19/1008-14.
They said that some senior officers of RDD are trying to hush-up the matter. "It seems that they too have indulged in similar practices in the past and they fear that the action against the accused JE could open a Pandora's box", sources said.
They said that the DDC should refer the matter to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).
