2 bovine smugglers arrested, 16 animals rescued

Samba, Dec 3: Continuing its endeavour to thwart the evil designs of the bovine smugglers, District Police Samba under the overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Sharma-SSP Samba, arrested 02 bovine smugglers and rescued 16 bovines in two separate incidents during the intervening night of 02/03-12-2018 in the jurisdiction of Sub-Division Samba.
Police spokesman said that a Police Party of Ghagwal police station headed by Inspector Rajeev Kumar-SHO Ghagwal during vehicle checking at Naka NHW Tapyal signalled to stop a truck bearing Registration number JK02AT-5725 which was coming from Kathua side.
"On seeing the police party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But, after a successful chase by the police party, truck was intercepted near NHW Nonath", said spokesman adding that during checking of the vehicle, 13 Bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were being transported illegally without any permission.
The accused driver namely Amandeep Singh of Simbal Camp Ward No.1 RS Pura, Jammu was arrested on spot and all the bovines animals were rescued. In this regard a case under FIR No. 159/2018 under section 188 of RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at Ghagwal police station and investigation started.
In another similar incident of foiling bovine smuggling bid, a Police Party of police post Supwal headed by SI Javed Kataria, in-charge police post Supwal under direct supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during a surprise naka at Gujjar Basti Tanda, Samba intercepted one load carrier auto without registration number which was going towards Jammu.
"During checking of the vehicle, 03 bovines were being transported illegally without any permission", said spokesman adding that the accused driver namely Abdul Majid of Dhoda Near Moh Maya Mandir Jammu was arrested and vehicle seized on spot.
All the 03 bovines were rescued and a case under FIR No. 319/2018 under section 188 of RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at Samba police station and investigation started.
