Jammu, Dec 3: Prof Ved Prakash, former UGC, Chairman today delivered the inaugural University of Jammu benchmark series under RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) in collaboration with Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ved Prakash said autonomy is crucial for the growth and development of higher education. Considering how different commissions and committees set up by the Government of India from time to time have looked at autonomy and accountability, and there is an interesting interplay between the two and that without them it is virtually impossible to achieve excellence. Prof Prakash also underlined the fact that even after India got freedom in 1947, the first Nation policy on Education came in 1985 and in the era of technology, things are changing fast, country needs new inclusive national policy on Education. Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu said that University is setting the target of 25 to 30 odd more lectures every year by imminent academician and the personalities thereby implying that University is setting the target of one lecture subject wise every month by a person of imminence. Prof Dhar further said that the zenith of learning should be outcome based, be student centric and further to revive value based education and curriculum. Prof Naresh Padha, Coordinator, RUSA outlined the objective of the programme Among others, Prof Jigar Mohd, Dean Research Studies, Prof Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Kulwant Singh, Controller of Examinations, faculty members, Scholars and students were also present on the occasion. Dr Bindu Raina from Physics Dept conducted the proceedings of the function. |
