Making 'mountains out of molehills,' serving issues to Pak stooges on a platter
Kashmir centric parties fishing in troubled waters
12/3/2018 10:48:01 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 3: Kashmir centric parties are waiting for an opportunity to give Pak stooges active in the Valley a chance to launch yet another agitation.
National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party had started raising the pitch after the media reports claimed that Governor's Administration is planning to make some changes with the Permanent Resident Certificates. "Both NC and PDP tried to project the issue as major concern and were trying to tell the people that the incumbent state government may fiddle with it," said an analyst.
He said that had the Governor Malik not cleared the air the Pak stooges by now would have called for strikes and protests against the decision. "It's unfortunate that mainstream parties active in the Valley are trying to serve the issues to the separatists on the platter and are trying to tell them that they should come out in open and make people hit the streets," the analyst added.
A Kashmir watcher said, "Both NC and PDP after losing power are making desperate attempts to make New Delhi believe that they only can rule the state. They are finding it hard to digest that Delhi has sidelined them and its working on new people and the new faces. By raking issues like PRC, NC and PDP are trying to intimidate Delhi."
Referring to the statement of National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah that NC had supported the government formation to protect state's special status, the Kashmir watcher said, "It looks like that both NC and PDP are trying to create a notion that J&K's special status is in danger and only these two parties can save it. "Both the parties are making attempts to come close to the separatists by telling them that they share a common ground."
He said that the desperation of both these parties is clearly evident and they are playing these games to prove it to Centre that they can do anything. Even foment trouble in the Valley. "Kashmir centric leaders should bear in mind that if they keep on toeing the line of the separatists they would end up on the losing side," he added.
A politician said that the Kashmir centric leaders have nothing to sell as they have failed on all the fronts. "Now they are raking up issues like PRC and state's special status just to survive. Their leaders know that people don't trust them anymore and Delhi too has turned its back towards them. Kashmir centric leaders are indulging in rhetoric to save their sinking ship," he added.
