ASKPC appeals PM to consider 'guiding principles on ID' for KPs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 9: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) held a meeting of its members and activists in Jammu on Sunday on the eve of Human Rights Week being observed from 10 December to 16 December. Speaking on the occasion, president of ASKPC Adv Ravinder Raina briefing the activists of organization highlighted the scope of Human Rights and their potential to bring a positive change in society. He said, "International Human Rights day will mark the 70th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted this declaration on 10 December 1948." He further said, "Declaration of Human Rights is a milestone document that proclaimed the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being." "The principles enshrined in the Declaration are as relevant today as they were in 1948," he added. Speaking on the occasion, general secretary Dr T K Bhat said, "Human rights declaration is a universal declaration and all member countries have a legal, moral and ethical binding to uphold and implement the tenants and guidelines of Human rights floated by United Nations." Focusing on immediate intervention and action by Narendra Modi led government, T K Bhat said, "We appeal to the Prime Minister of India to consider 'UN Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement (ID)' as an immediate interim mechanism to redress the long pending demands of internally displaced community from Kashmir." |
