| 2 interstate smugglers held with 202 kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 9: Continuing its war against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today recovered another consignment of 202 kg of contraband substance (poppy straw) from two interstate narcotic smugglers at Udhampur.
Sharing details Rayees Mohammad Bhat-SSP Udhampur said that based on reliable information, party of Udhampur police station led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib-SHO Udhampur under the supervision of DySP Zahid Saif Wani-DySP Hqrs. Udhampur raised a naka at Jakheni, Udhampur for checking of vehicles.
"During naka checking, police party stopped one truck bearing registration number PB02BV-8899 which was subjected to thorough search. During search of said vehicle, 202 kg poppy straw was recovered", said spokesman adding that arrested smugglers have been identified as Jatinder Masih and Jatinder Singh both residents of Gurdasspur Punjab.
Police said that both the smugglers have been were arrested on the spot and poppy straw recovered. The involved vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, a case under FIR No. 584/18 under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered in Udhampur police station and further investigation of the case taken up. It is pertinent to mention here that just one week earlier Police team of Udhampur recovered 420 Kg poppy straw and arrested 03 narcotic smugglers. |
