KPs seek political reservation for community; petition before PM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 9: The demand for reservation of seats in Parliament and State Legislature has gained momentum with some Kashmiri Pandit organisations taking up the issue with both State and Central governments this time. According to sources some KP organisations are serious for reservation of seats in Parliament and State Legislature and they have petitioned the demand before Union and State Government besides BJP leadership demanding reservation of seats for the minority Pandits in law making bodies. In a representation given to Union Government and State BJP leadership, the head of a KP organisation in his memorandum to PM and BJP leadership has demanded that BJP should give mandate to KP candidates from Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Habbakadal and Amirakadal Assembly segments in Kashmir Valley to ensure political reservation and empowerment of the community. The KP leader said that it was high time for BJP to set an example for empowerment of Hindu minorities of Kashmir, sources added. Sources said other KP organisations including APMCC, AMCCC, ASKPC, KPC, JTC and others are also pressing hard for the demand. Demanding the empowerment of community these organisations said that it will be one of the Confidence Building Measures (CBM) for the community leading an exiled life for over 28 years now. They said if BJP is really for welfare and upliftment of the community it should not hesitate in conceding the demand and set a trend for other parties to follow. |
